Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known as the character detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her role in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was the child of an executive in the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney wanted to become a reporter for the court. However, in high school the time came when she began modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first role as an actor was as a teenager as a child in All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney an actress in her early years from the 1980s has appeared in a variety of TV films as well as dramas. In contrast to her impressive professional career, Delaney's private life isn't as content and successful. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005, the actress lost the custody of her son.
